Vision About the Women’s Giving Circle

Women’s Giving Circle members are alumnae and friends who recognize that women as donors have the capability of making a tremendous impact on the University of Arkansas, its students, faculty and staff. This impact grows exponentially when the contributions from women are united in support of the University through a collective voice.

The Women’s Giving Circle was created in 2002 by the founding members of the Women and Philanthropy Committee and Campaign for the Twenty-First Century Steering Committee. The purpose of the group is to create a substantial pool of new money from women in support of the University of Arkansas while, at the same time, encouraging women as philanthropic leaders.

A major university aspiring to greatness must have supporters who are continually looking for new and innovative ways to generate funding in support of the University’s mission. The Women’s Giving Circle is one such group. The Women’s Giving Circle identifies timely opportunities on the campus, particularly those with an emphasis on the enrichment of women’s lives, and together chooses how to direct the group’s pooled resources through an annual grants award process.

Steering committee members of the Campaign for the Twenty-First Century and the Women and Philanthropy Committee created the vision for a collective giving group. From this vision they founded the Women’s Giving Circle.
